Environmental Statement and Policy

Bankside Patterson Ltd is actively committed to monitoring the impact that our operations may have on the environment and our community. We continuously strive to minimise, mitigate, prevent or eliminate any adverse effect our business and manufacturing practices may have on nature and the Earth’s natural resources. We encourage the adoption of similar environmental standards from our suppliers, customers and contractors.

AS AN ORGANISATION, WE PROMISE TO:

  • Comply with all applicable legal obligations under the Environmental Protection Act, the Health Safety and Welfare Act, relevant codes of practice and any other statutory requirements
  • Conserve raw materials and supplies
  • Increase our energy efficiency
  • Reduce energy consumption, waste, pollution and emissions wherever possible
  • Recycle whatever, wherever and whenever possible
  • Purchase raw materials from sustainable resources and use environmentally friendly materials whenever practical
  • Properly dispose of non-biodegradable waste materials
  • Provide a safe and healthy working environment for our employees
  • Promote awareness of environmental issues amongst our staff
  • Assess the environmental impact of all future projects and operations
  • Adhere to the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) standards with regards to any new construction
  • Share environmental solutions with our customers, suppliers, our local community and the general public
  • Regularly review our practices to ensure we always operate in an environmentally sensitive and sound manner

IN ORDER TO SECURE THESE OBJECTIVES, THE COMPANY:

  • Actively works in conjunction with East Riding County Council to reduce the amount of solvent emissions into the atmosphere
  • Works closely with the Carbon Trust to reduce our carbon footprint
  • Now recycles all cardboard, wood, plastic, steel, paint and glass
  • Has invested in new, much more energy efficient machinery including new compressors, a Power Factor Unit and a state of the art spray shop
  • Introduced Bio-diesel to run our growing transport fleet
  • Has installed in our factory double glazing, insulated cladding and wind resistant roller shutter doors which are either rapid acting or on timers

Bankside Patterson is extremely proactive in connection with all environmental issues and we, in cooperation with our customers and suppliers, will continue to strive to have as little negative impact as is possible on the country’s landfills, the atmosphere, nature and the environment.
